Wednesdays, August 22 & 29, 7-9 p.m. — “WRITING OUR FAITH LIVES“ — Poet Laureate for Volusia County M.B. McLatchey will lead a poetry workshop series that explores the link between faith and poetry. Our values and our beliefs define us. But how willing are we to embrace these beliefs in our writing? How do we profess the truth without preaching in our poetry? What risks are we willing to take in our poems? What is the connection between true faith and well-crafted art? Workshop participants will explore these questions while also trying their hands at various forms of poetry. This series is open to the public, with a special invitation to members of our church community. All levels of poets are welcome, from non-writers to advanced writers.
M. B. McLatchey serves as one of Florida’s Poet Laureates for Volusia County and is the recipient of the 2011 American Poet Prize. She was recently selected as a Writer-in-the-Spotlight by the national Association of Writers & Writing Programs.
