“We shall serve for the joy of serving. Prosperity shall flow to us and through us in unending streams of plenty.” — Charles Fillmore
Ministry Teams
Unity of Daytona Beach offers many opportunities to serve — within our community and beyond our walls. If you resonate with the description of one of the ministry teams listed below, contact us.
Coffee Angels
Coordinator: Debra Beddard
The Coffee Angels work primarily in our Fellowship Hall kitchen getting food, snacks and hot and cold drinks nicely set up for the congregants’ social time after each Sunday service. Occasionally, the Coffee Angels are asked to assist in serving snacks and coffee at other church social events. Always willing to help when they can, they are truly “angels.” Coffee Angels are scheduled to work one Sunday per month and spend about two hours, including at-home preparation time, each month.
God’s Gardeners
Team Lead: Dan Kalis
Meet at the church on a biweekly basis and do gardening work — pull weeds and vines, clean up shrubbery and plants, rake leaves and trim back overgrowth.
Greeters
The greeters welcome people as they come into the church. They are there to make sure that everyone who comes through our doors feels welcome. Whether a visitor or a long-time attendee, each person who shows up at our door each Sunday is equally important person in the world. Greeters are people who love other people, are friendly and who do it because they love what they are doing. Time commitment: 30 minutes, one Sunday per month.
Maintenance/Building/Grounds
Team Leader: Ron Guilmette
Our maintenance team takes great pride in assuring that our facility and surrounding property stays in top – notch condition and is safe for all participants. We welcome anyone to join our team and share in this experience.
Media Booth
Coordinator: Jeff Ritter
The Media Booth Team is responsible for running the PowerPoint slides, the sound system and the lights for Sunday services, special events and holiday services. The slides allow the congregation to follow song lyrics, view key points during the sermon and stay informed about upcoming church classes and events. This team is looking for energetic, enthusiastic people who are comfortable with technology and who would enjoy contributing to the quality and effectiveness of our Sunday services. We are looking for people willing to spend about 1.5 hours on one Sunday per month to run the projector.
Music Ministry
Music Director: Cass Panuska
The Music Ministry at Unity of Daytona Beach is designed to support our services and other church activities by performing a broad selection of spiritual and inspirational music and by leading the congregation in sacred music. Members of our volunteer choir sing at 11 a.m. services. Choir practices are held each week at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. We are fortunate to have a professional accompanist, Dr. Becki Sanford. We also encourage musicians from within our congregation to come forward and offer their talents, either with their voice or instruments. Throughout the year we welcome guest musicians who are visiting our church from around the country — or even from around the world. Choir members devote about two hours per week for rehearsal and additional time performing during Sunday services.
Nursery Angels
Coordinator: Suzanne Amsel
Nursery care is provided from 11:00 a.m. until noon for infants through age five. We provide a safe place for children to nap or play while family members enjoy the services. We would like to have loving individuals interested in occasionally substituting.
Outreach
Team Lead: Dan Kalis
The Outreach team supports members of our UDB family and our surrounding community by providing food and other items to those who require assistance.
Ushers
Team Leader: Bobbie Doyle
Be the first to welcome all who enter our sanctuary with warmth, friendliness, positivity, and love. Our ushers convey the spirit of Unity of Daytona Beach, assist congregants to the sanctuary and throughout service. Serving UDB in this way is rewarding as you interact with the church family and extend your presence of peace and love.
Youth Ministry
Ages 6-13
Teachers and assistants are scheduled to spend about 2.5 hours a week to prepare fun, inspiring, God-filled lessons. Classes meet from 11:00 – noon.
Y.O.U.
Youth of Unity – ages 14-18. Not currently meeting.
