World Day of Prayer

September 13, 2018

Come Celebrate and Practice the Power of Prayer

Prayer Vigil — 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. – UDB Sanctuary
Prayers in the Park — noon – 6 p.m. – Holly Land Park

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Unity’s World Day of Prayer, when thousands of individuals and communities around the world join together in the spirit of love and unity to pray focusing on a single theme. The theme this year is “Courage to Heal” and the prayer affirmation is “I am a healing Presence.”

Our Chaplains, Healing Team, Outreach Team and Ministerial Team are planning a day of prayer, meditation and connection with the healing power of Spirit as Unity of Daytona Beach celebrates Unity’s World Day of Prayer.

We will be celebrating and praying at two locations this year. In addition to having the church sanctuary open for a prayer vigil from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., we also will have activities at Holly Land Park (just north of the church at 1082 Ridgewood Avenue) from noon until 6 p.m. Please plan to be with us at either or both locations for a few minutes or all day as we focus on healing ourselves, our community and our world.

“Prayers in the Park” will include a variety of healing activities, such as prayer, guided meditation, walking a labyrinth, Reiki/energy healing sessions and yoga. In addition, Judy Stamper will be providing healing sounds on her beautiful crystal bowls throughout the afternoon. Our intention is to provide a meaningful, memorable day that creates a space for healing and leaves participants with renewed energy and enthusiasm that they will carry with them long after our closing prayers.

Other ways you can participate:

  • Fill out and submit your prayer list (available in the lobby) with the names of those you would like us to bless during the vigil.
  • Commit to hold sacred space and pray in the sanctuary for a specified time interval. A sign-up sheet is posted in the lobby.
  • Join us in prayer from wherever you are by affirming, “I am a healing Presence.”
  • Invite family and friends to participate.
  • View events live-streamed from Silent Unity, Unity Village, MO from wherever you are at worlddayofprayer.org.
